Editor In Chief

Madeleine Bordenet

Madeleine is a senior in the Linguistics, Literature, and Writing major with minors in French, International Studies, and Honors Interdisciplinary Studies. She finds joy in words, however that may be, especially through writing plays and poetry, along with learning languages. After graduation, she hopes to continue her studies of language as a means of personal expression and an aspect of identity. Madeleine adores video games, exploring book stores and museums, and people-watching in cafés. Her favorite book is My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell for its playfulness and detail in equal measure.

Jasmine Vandehey-Kueber

Jasmine is a senior in the Public Health major and Honors minor. After graduation she plans to attend Portland State University to get her Master's in Public Health. Outside of working and school, she can be found exploring the local tidepools looking for shells to add to her collection and searching for sea stars. She loves coffee and tea, baking, traveling, and anything related to Halloween.  A fun fact about her is that she has five goats at home in Hillsboro, Oregon, and her favorite one is named Oreo.

Mae Ferrari

Mae is in her second year at Western pursuing majors in philosophy and economics. In her free time she enjoys reading and writing, of course, as well as playing video games and spending time outdoors. If she had to pick one book to be her favorite, it would be Água Viva by Clarice Lispector.

Associate Editor

Kai Gerton

Kai is currently a sophomore at WWU studying biochemistry and on track to earn an honor’s minor. Looking ahead to his time after WWU, he plans to study optometry in graduate school and eventually find a career in optometry or ocular health. Outside of academia, though, he loves swimming, tennis, hiking, and generally trying to stay active. He also loves listening to and occasionally playing music, photography, and enjoys reading and casually writing fiction stories in his spare time. One of Kai’s favorite books ever is The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, which he highly recommends to anyone interested in dramatic tales of feudal families or historical fiction. Kai is looking forward to working with the OR team and talented WWU peers to bring you the 16th volume of Occam’s Razor!
